South Africa’s Historic Leap Towards Inclusivity

In a groundbreaking move for South African golf, the 2024 Sunshine Ladies Tour is geared up and hosted one of its most inclusive seasons to date.
Moreover, with live coverage slated on SuperSport, fans can expect an unprecedented level of engagement and excitement throughout the season.

Thomas Abt, Commissioner of the Sunshine Tour, expressed his enthusiasm for this monumental step towards gender equality in professional golf. “The strength of South African professional golf lies in our collective ability to showcase our diversity and produce champions in both the men’s and women’s game,” Abt remarked. He attributed this progress to the unwavering support of sponsors and partners who share the vision of a more inclusive and unified golfing landscape.

The tour kicked off with the Dimension Data Ladies Pro-Am at Fancourt that took place from 16-18 February, followed by the SuperSport Ladies Challenge presented by Sun International at the Lost City Golf Course from 21-23 February. The schedule further included the Fidelity ADT Ladies Challenge at Blue Valley, the Standard Bank Ladies Open at Royal Cape, Thereafter it will be the ABSA Ladies Invitational from 4-6th April at Serengeti Estates and the Jabra Ladies Classic at Glendower from 10-12th April. Coming to the end of the season they play the Joburg Ladies Open from 18-21st April at Modderfontein and the grand finale at Erinvale Golf Course – The Investec SA Women’s Open from 25-28th April.

As the 11th season of the Sunshine Ladies Tour, this year’s events not only showcase the remarkable talent within South African women’s golf but also signal a resolute commitment to inclusivity and equality within the sport.
