FRANSCHHOEK WINES – CHANTELLE CAP CLASSIQUE

Made entirely from hand picked chardonnay grapes, Chantelle is a refined elegant Cap Classique, handcrafted in the traditional French method and matured on the lees for a minimum of five years in our Franschhoek Cellar.

We pick over 90% of the grapes early in the harvest to achieve the dry crisp flavour so admired in Blanc de Blanc, leaving a small portion of the same crop to mature into full ripeness.

ATLAS SWIFT – DREAM BIG, WORK HARD

We have always dreamed of having
our destiny in our own hands, and to raise our two children in an environment filled with the love for what we do – to produce outstanding wines from unique terroirs.

We believe that we are firmly in charge of that destiny, and that the Atlas Swift range of wines is a culmination of hard work, perseverance and the multiplicity of distinctive origins, cultures, memories and energy.” – Martin and Welma Smith – Proprietors

Clarise Sciocatti-Langeveldt – Amante della vita

These are just a few terms ascribed to Clarise, cellar master at Hazendal Wine Estate on the Bottelary-Stellenbosch Wine Route

The appointment of Sciocatti-Langeveldt in 2016 was certainly a watershed moment for the historic farm’s wine production. A major refurbishment of the estate in 2018 included a complete revamp of the wine production cellar, optimising the space for the goal of producing boutique volumes of world-class wines. Clarise’s detailed approach to winemaking extends to the replanted Hazendal vineyards. To combat years of declining yields due to the spread of leaf-roll virus, all vines on the property where uprooted and the land rejuvenated. In their place, virus-free clones of a dozen carefully chosen cultivars were replanted across twelve hectares, carefully matched to capitalise on the unique terroir of Hazendal.

CARMEN STEVENS – GROWING A BRAND, NOT JUST A WINE COMPANY

to be and stay financially independent with the aim of offering my children and family better prospects now and in the future. I aim to do better with each vintage I produce as I want to leave a legacy that speaks of a person that did not just do a job, but enjoyed the career path I chose for myself. Additionally, I play a role in the future of so many learners’ success at school level, which is very close to my heart.
