Celebrating 21 Years of Excellence and Equality
The Vodacom Origins of Golf series marks its 21st year of celebrating golf, talent, and gender equality. Over the past two decades, this prestigious pro-am tournament has significantly contributed to the growth and promotion of golf in South Africa. This year, the series continues its commitment to inclusivity and excellence with a lineup of exciting events and groundbreaking initiatives.
Elevating Gender Equality in Golf
Building on its history of promoting gender equality, the Vodacom Origins of Golf series will once again feature professional women golfers competing for equal prize money alongside their male counterparts. This initiative reinforces Vodacom’s dedication to leveling the playing field and recognizing the skills and abilities of female golfers. Nine Sunshine Ladies Tour professionals will participate in this year’s series, each competing for a minimum prize fund of R2 million, equivalent to the prize money for Sunshine Tour professionals.
A STELLAR LINEUP OF EVENTS
The 2024 Vodacom Origins of Golf series will feature four thrilling events at some of South Africa’s most renowned golf courses:
Highland Gate: August 16th – 18th
Sishen: September 20th – 22nd
Wild Coast Sun: October 11th – 13th
Oubaai Golf Resort & Spa: November 14th – 17th
These events will showcase the country’s beautiful landscapes and offer a platform for both amateur and professional golfers to compete at the highest level.
Supporting Local Talent and Diversity
Since its inception in 2004, the Vodacom Origins of Golf series has played a crucial role in promoting local talent and fostering diversity within the sport. The series has invested over R100 million into the local professional game, hosting more than 100 tournaments across South Africa. Initiatives such as development golf clinics have been instrumental in nurturing young talent and encouraging greater participation in golf.
As the Vodacom Origins of Golf series celebrates its 21st year, it continues to be a beacon of excellence and equality in the golfing world. By promoting gender equality, supporting local talent, and showcasing South Africa’s beautiful landscapes, this series not only elevates the sport but also inspires future generations of golfers.
